Apple TV | Social Media disruptors

CLIENT ASK: Create social media ads for Apple TV to promote Season 2 of Monarch that would stop users mid-scroll. The concept centered on “social disruptors”—visuals designed to feel like they were physically breaking or distorting the platform’s UI to immediately capture attention and drive viewers to the teaser and call to action.

The primary challenge was conceptual: defining what element of the UI would be “disrupted” before the viewer even engaged with the trailer or messaging. On top of that, we were limited to using only existing CGI character footage from the show, no custom VFX or new animations. This required a reverse-engineered approach, scrubbing through available scenes to find moments that could convincingly sell the disruption concept, then building the creative around those constraints rather than starting from scratch.

Reddit ad - Lightning strikes on a faux post to enter the teaser trailer for Monarch Season 2. Breaking what appears to be two 4:3 posts helps quickly catch the viewers eye as the post blends into a single 9:16 post on Reddit.

Tik Tok/IG/Facebook ad - Taking a typical Apple social media post, like “Watch Next”, the unassuming post is disrupted by our Monarch baddie breaking from the confines of the box.

Reddit ad - Utilizing faux Reddit UI we can disrupt the doomscroll by breaking the interface in a bold way. Realizing we need to catch the viewer within in 1-3 secs, we quickly have Godzilla break frame and melt the UI with his Atomic Breathe bringing the call to action on without losing the viewers attention.

Tik Tok/IG/Facebook ad - What appears to be an Apple Music tile, traditionally seen in a reel would be thrashed by Kong himself, leaving behind the teaser trailer as well as the CTA.

Tik Tok/IG/Facebook ad - Using a scrolling animation to mimic a users interaction with social media, we can catch the viewers attention quickly. As the frames move the baddies break from their window giving a slight parallax and visual interest to the doomscroll.
